The Stanley Parable Review

Posted: 11 AprilI don't feel like this game is for me. Maybe I played it too late, but the humor seems to be more directed to game developers than game players. So much of what makes this work is whether or not you understand development and play-testing, and the frustrations that come when the player refuses to just do what you want them to do, thus breaking the experience and forcing you back to drawing board. At the same time, this concept seemed so much fresher about 10 years ago. Like when Scream came out, there was little out there like it and people were growing cynical with the same formula over and over again. Iron man 2 black widow. However today, the joke has been done and it's grown stale.
I put an hour into this and saw most of the endings, at which point I didn't feel the need to go digging any further. As was stated in the How Did This Get Played? Podcast, if you're interested you should check it out when it's on sale, then stop when you feel like you've had enough.
Nov 27, 2013 The Stanley Parable Review – Introduction. Where do I begin? Where do I end? Where do I middle? When it comes to The Stanley Parable, there’s no real way to review it, just as there is no real way to play it, or finish it, or even describe it on a basic level. The Stanley Parable - The Stanley Parable is a first person exploration game. You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will follow a story, you will not follow a story. You will have a choice, you will have no choice. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again.
